Laure de Bonneuil (1775-1857) was the wife of the French statesman Michel
Louis Etienne Regnault de Saint Jean d´Angely (1762-1819), who was the
Conseiller d´Etat under the Consulat, Secretaire d´Etat to the
Imperial family in 1810, and Ministre d´Etat under Napoleon in 1814.
This painting sold at a Sothebys Old Masters auction in 1996 for $52,000
to a private collector.
