She was a close friend of Marie Antoinette and escaped with the Royal Family from Paris to Varennes. She was confined to the Temple, and lost her head on 10th May 1794, at the age of thirty years. Chevalier de Vaureal- 1776 oil on canvas the painting was exhibited in 1925 as a portrait by VLB. The owner believed the sitter was the Chevalier de Vaureal, natural son of Prince de Conti, who some years later married Julie Menars. It is possible that VLB's 1776 entry "1 The young Vaubal", corresponds to this listing because Vaubal is not a French name, and the listing may be an error for Vaureal.
